Visa-free Countries for Philippine Passport Holder

By Bryan | Published: 19th Oct, 2015

While most of us may still find it difficult to travel around the world freely without a visa, Filipinos can choose to skip the brunt of tit-for-tat visa application for now.

Skip the drama, grab your backpack and start traveling to more than 50 countries of the world — NO VISA! Well, sort of. Some countries do not require a pre-arranged visa and are issued at the border.

pinoy_visa_free.jpg

Apart from having enough resources to support your travels (of course), the key is to prove that you are a genuine traveler. For first-time Pinoy travelers, your best bet is a passport that enables as much visa-free travel as possible.

While others stick to their border rules, there are countries that are advocate of visa-free travel. Take Ecuador for instance.

Ecuador has one of the most lenient visa policies in the world as most visitors are not obliged to obtain a visa for stays up to 90 days while some countries issue visas upon arrival or right at the airport.

So start your travel bucket list to these countries with visa exemptions. In the long run, it might actually facilitate in getting your first visa with much more ease. You could show off your passport teeming with border stamps if your ultimate travel goal is to visit the rest of the big countries like the US, UK and Japan which strictly require a pre-arranged visa.

Fret not. Here's the list of countries who have made visa arrangements or visa exemptions for Filipinos visiting with genuine purpose of tourism.

*Update as of November 2019:

Kindly validate the source. You need an e-visa to Iran. They need an electronic authorization or electronic reference number from the ministry of foreign affairs. Mahigpit sila so kailangan may sponsor ka sa iran.
  • Bryan
Hi Koko. Thanks for checking. As part of the disclaimer from this blog, and as for any other countries who agreed to issue visa on arrival, the key is to show that you are indeed a genuine traveller. Iran is in fact, still issuing 15-day tourist visas from selected airports (Mehrabad, IKIA, Kish, Qeshm, Boushehr, Shiraz, Tabriz, Mashhad, Esfahan, Asalouyeh and Chahbahar airports) and an invitation letter from a sponsor is just one of the valid requirements. Actually, any one of the following proofs can be submitted at the airport plus a confirmed return ticket, of course: - Address and contact number of the place in which they want to stay in Iran - Invitation Letter - Hotel booking confirmation for duration of their stay in Iran Just to add, Philippines is definitely not on the list of non-eligible nationalities for airport visa. I hope this clarifies.
  • Koko
Hi, May I know your source? I travelled to Iran in January and i definitely needed an electronic authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. I had to get my visa from Erbil, Iraq sent by the MFA Tehran. Thanks for the response though.
  • Bryan
Hello Koko. Most of the Iranian travel agencies and Iranian Embassy sites state the same info that visa on arrival is permitted (e.g. iranianvisa<dot>com ). Would you be able to disclose on which airport did you arrive last January? I'm awaiting formal feedback from the Iranian embassy, in case, so I could update the info. Thanks again.

Hi Glory. So long as you have a return ticket and hotel reservations for the entire duration of your stay to show that your genuinely visiting #Singapore as a tourist — you should be fine!
  • Arvy Valerio
Hi Bryan. Im curious whats your source with this list of visa free countries for philippine passport holder. Have you traveled to this countries? As per DFA they could only confirm 25 visa free countries. And when you look at wikipidia its say 61 visa free countries for philippine passport holders but with no official list attached to it. Now im confused. Im now in search of a comfirm list of visa free countries for filipinos for my future travels. Thanks.
  • Bryan
Hi Arvy. I appreciate the query — the info here are all linked to its respective local immigration sites as their visa policy may change from time to time. The ones published by DFA doesn't include most countries that allow visa on arrival (e.g. visas issued at the port or airports). I've included them here as it doesn't require the usual process of pre-arranged visas. I haven't visited all the countries yet — but I'll be more than happy to help if you have any country-specific query. All the best!
  • Mikka
do you just buy tickets to these countries and you're good to go? O_O
  • Bryan
... a return ticket plus confirmed accommodations covering the duration of your stay and yes — you're good to go. Sometimes, you will be asked for an itinerary so you might want to plan it beforehand, just in case.

  • Juliet Gloria Juanite

  • Ajeesh
I’m an Indian,I would like to visit Zubic and Bohol. What are the procedure to get Philippines tourist visa.

Hi Ajeesh. Indian nationals who wish to visit the Philippines for tourism purposes may be granted visa-free entry for an initial authorized stay not exceeding 14 days, provided they possess the following: a.) Either a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, UK, or Singaporean multiple-entry visa or permanent residence permit. b.) An Indian passport valid at least six (6) months beyond the date of departure from the Philippines; c.) Return or onward ticket to the next country of destination; and d.)
